As the cooler months approach, staying warm and safe in our homes becomes a top priority. I want to ensure that every household in Carroll County knows about energy assistance programs available through Tri-County Community Action Program (TCCAP).
If you or someone you know is worried about heating costs or electricity bills this coming season, here are programs that are available:
Fuel Assistance Program (FAP)
The Fuel Assistance Program provides income-eligible homeowners and renters with direct grant assistance toward heating costs.
What it Covers: All heating sources (oil, propane, wood, pellets, electric, natural gas).
No Repayment Required: Benefits are grants paid directly to your fuel vendor or applied toward rent if heat is included.
Key Dates & Eligibility:
Priority Applications (Open July 1): Priority is given to households with members who are 60 or older, individuals with disabilities, or families with children under age 6.
General Applications (Open September 1): Open to all other eligible households.
Open to Homeowners & Renters: Income qualification is generally up to 60% of the State Median Income.
Electric Assistance Program (EAP)
The Electric Assistance Program helps make monthly electric bills more manageable.
Benefit: Provides an ongoing discount between 8% and 86% on monthly electric bills.
Availability: Applications are accepted year-round.
Eligible Providers: Customers of Eversource, Liberty, and New Hampshire Electric Co-op.
